About Spine-Line Editing

three faces of Anne-crop3Welcome to Spine-Line Editing. I am Anne M. Doe Overstreet, the lead editor of Spine-Line, and I have worked for over a decade as an editor, serving a variety of academic, creative, and corporate clients. I take great satisfaction in the successful collaboration between author and editor, whatever the level of edit required.

My background runs the gamut from film criticism, memoir, and fantasy fiction to non-fiction how-to books. I also have considerable expertise in editing for the sociological sciences, and more than ten years’ experience editing academic work for writers for whom English is a second language that is intended for publication in international professional journals.

I also have a particular fondness for fantasy fiction and science fiction, fairy tales and the equestrian arts. Recent clients include author, equestrian guru, and librarian extraordinaire Aarene Storms; novelist and short story writer James Knisely.

My work as a poet has taught me a daily discipline of detail-oriented writing and editing. (My collection of poems and essays, Delicate Machinery Suspended, was published by T.S. Poetry Press in 2011.) I serve as an associate editor for the poetry journal DMQ Review. I have recent experience working with poets as a mentor, an online instructor, and an editor, working with them on everything from the finer points of their poetry to conceptualizing the flow of their collections for publication.
